Sun Chemical Success Story

Sun Chemical - Problem Definition

It has been observed that the color intensities on the black line are at lower levels compared to those on the yellow line, which has been evaluated as an opportunity for improvement in the production process. This situation indicates the need to update the standards for color intensity of the products and implement process improvements.

Analysis of the Current State

Analyses conducted over the past six months reveal that the average color intensity of products on the yellow line is 105%, while the black line lags behind with an average of 102%. This highlights the difference in color intensity between the black and yellow lines. While the yellow line exceeds the targeted color intensity, the black line falls below the established standard. This discrepancy necessitates examining production process parameters and seizing improvement opportunities.

Gains Achieved Post-Implementation

Through this solution, energy consumption on the black line has been significantly reduced. By decreasing the grinding energy consumption from 130 kWh/t to 100 kWh/t, energy efficiency has improved, leading to lower production costs. Additionally, this process improvement has resulted in more consistent color intensity, enhanced product quality, and increased overall operational efficiency. Energy savings and quality enhancements have contributed to environmental sustainability and provided a competitive edge.
